In today’s world, we’re constantly being hit with advice—from TikTok to YouTube to Instagram reels—everyone seems to be an "expert." But here’s the thing: not all advice is created equal.
If you’re following someone for career tips, job search strategies, or life-changing “hacks,” it’s worth asking:
👉 Do they have actual experience?
👉 Have they worked in the field or coached people through it?
👉 Can you find any proof of their credibility?
💡 Here’s a quick tip:
Look them up on LinkedIn.
LinkedIn has over a billion users and is the professional standard for showcasing your background, experience, and credibility.
If the person giving you career advice isn’t on LinkedIn—or has a profile that’s completely blank—I’d take a step back and ask, why?
No professional background? No real track record? No references? That’s a red flag 🚩.
There’s no shortage of voices out there—but you want to make sure you’re listening to the right ones.

✅ Vet your sources. Don’t just take career advice from a viral video—dig a little deeper.
✅ Choose credible experts. Find people with real coaching experience, professional certifications, and a history of helping others get results.
